I was just wondering what you all thought on
these liester components. wouldnt it be more
realistic if the point in the middle didnt have
a point on both ends, as just a opinion that
when pointed on both ends with the force you
will have to expend to get it to the point that
it would drive it further into the shaft. Rather
if it was blunt on the end in the shaft it would
tend to stay put. Just wondering as most of them
point components look like awls except for
having square sides part way down, which could
also be attributed to being used and worn down.

Good points made. This is a theory brought up by
some that is interesting when comparing copper
forms & suggesting uses of these implements. I
agree a point on each end is a mystery when
hafted also note the Rat-tail point has a
pointed tang. Some believe these points to be
inserted while others entertain the idea of a
multi-use tool,(awl & knife or spear). The same
can be said for the center component on a
possible leister, it may fall into multiple
categories by form. A blunt end as you suggest
would work better. Nothing is for certain & this
is why this blog is open to the public to share
their views on where placement of certain forms
could be. All forms will be described as is,
placement will be an on going challenge
(use).'Unknown' category will be full. Thanks
for the response.
